Patch tool can be used to copy a set area to another to get rid of distractions.

Heal tool for hairs, or if the background is even you can use brush tool.

Content aware fill to remove people or objects when there is a simple background.

With something more complex, you could utilise the patch tool but also if you have a similar shot from the same place you can use this to create a new layer. You can lower the opacity on the top layer and line them up. You can create a mask and use the brush tool to paint over the person you want to hide, that wasn’t walking behind you subject in the second shot.

To create a more defined jaw in a portrait I used the pen tool to draw where I wanted the jaw to be on a new layer and made the neck a separate layer. I could then use the warp tool to move the chin under the jaw line.
